I was a little worried about gaining the dreaded “Freshman Fifteen” when I first entered college back in 2010. Although I did find myself eating food that wasn’t as healthy as I once ate at home, I only gained a couple of pounds and luckily evaded the curse. Before departing for Ireland, I was sure the food wasn’t going to be that great. Oh, how wrong I was about that.
Before my arrival in Dublin, I filled out a series of forms in the hopes of obtaining an internship abroad. After about a month or so, my internship coordinator, Caroline, got back to me and set up a Skype interview to figure out what my main interests were for an internship. My roommate at the time was in the room when she Skyped me and we both were giddy to hear her Irish accent.
It’s hard to grasp the idea that I’ll be leaving for Dublin in less than a week. I’ve filled out every possible form imaginable, bought way too many sweaters to count and I’ve read everything in sight about Ireland and what to do there. Yet, I still feel like I should research more about this country, what with all of its rich, historic background.
